Sunscreen is a necessary tool in any surfer's dock kit. It acts as a barrier between our fragile skin and the harmful UV rays that come from the sun... and as surfers, we get plenty of sun. Behind the Screen
Owner and founder, Australian native Tony Palmer, has a knack for chasing the sun and sea. He has spent much of his life in the water surfing, lifesaving, sailing, diving, or water skiing, and comes from a line of accomplished watermen and competitive lifeguards, including his father and grandfather before him.
Palmer started Tropic Sport Sunscreens when his 4-year-old twins started surfing. Around the same time, he contracted Lymphoma bringing to his awareness the harmful chemicals found in most sunscreens and their negative impacts on both the environment and humans. For five years, he worked with surf friends, surf pros, and water sports lovers until he finally made a sunscreen that reflected his own values.
