Cariuma was founded by two friends, David and Fernando, who got along over their shared love for board sports (skateboarding, surfing, and snowboarding) and their beautiful home, Brazil. Noticing a need for a change of the "classic cool sneaker," and having learned about the environmental impact of the footwear industry, the two were inspired to reinvent the sneakers game with sustainability, social responsibility, and quality in mind. To pursue this dream, David and Fernando quit their jobs and set off to create a company that made the best products for the planet and people.
Design
Cariuma wants its customers to choose quality over quantity, the real answer to sustainability, and fall in love with the comfort and style of their shoes. The variety of vintage-inspired silhouettes are timeless and made to take you from the skate park to your favorite dinner spot. Cariuma prides itself on keeping the earth and customer in mind with every new design and the constant evolution and improvement of its products.
Sustainability
After learning about the environmental toll fast fashion practices were taking on our planet, David and Fernando decided to make sure their sneakers were made to help, not hurt, our beautiful mother earth. All the materials used in their sneakers are sustainably sourced, and 65% of their products are completely vegan. Emotional, physical, and mental health and wellbeing are top priorities for employees, and all facilities guarantee fair working hours and wages. Furthermore, Cariuma is a certified BCorp company, and for every pair of Cariuma sneakers purchased, 2 trees are planted to help reforest and restore the Brazilian rainforest.
