Noosa Heads, Australia

Noosa Heads is known for its multiple right points that, when they’re breaking, are a dream for long and short boarders alike. This spot is perfect for intermediate surfers to get experience in the water at all swell heights as it’s mostly an easy-going, accepting wave. It’s best with an east to northeast swell, a southwest wind, and a low to medium tide. When the swell does come in, the current comes with it, so be ready for a shoulder burn. It is the 10th world surfing reserve and houses the annual Noosa Festival of Surfing.

Turtle Bay, North Shore, Oahu Intermediate surfers, right point break, surf, Turtle Bay

Situated at the end of the 7-mile miracle on Oahu’s north shore, Turtle Bay is home to one of the best intermediate waves on the Hawaiian Island chain. The right point break lies beneath the wonderful Turtle Bay Resort and is home to the Jamie O’Brien Surf Experience. This spot favors most tides, any swell from west-northwest to northeast, and prefers calm east or south wind. When the rest of the north shore is pumping, this wave can be a haven for the intermediate surfer looking for some time in the water. With the right conditions, the wave is manageable for intermediate surfers until the 8 to 9 ft (global wave height) range, any bigger, and it becomes a more advanced wave.

Malibu, California

Probably one of the most famous waves in the world, this right point break is an easy-going ocean paradise for beginners to advanced longboarders. Unfortunately, with its fame comes crowds, but if you're willing to put up with a few more heads in the water, these waves are worth it.  Malibu is best at a medium tide with a south to southwest swell and north to northwest wind. Waves can range from tiny to decent, so make sure to check the report before you head out. We recommend any size in the 4 to 7 ft range for fun peelers.

Rincon in Santa Barbara is one of the best-known right point breaks in California, however, for that reason, it is usually fairly crowded. Another gem is hidden right down the road in Ventura. This right point break is more consistent and has a few point breaks offering lots of waves for beginners to advanced surfers depending on size. C st is best on a low to a medium tide, with long-period south, southwest, west, or northwest swells and a light north to northeast wind. We recommend waves between the 4 – 8 ft range for some super fun right breaks.

Machines, Laamu Atoll, Maldives

Getting its name from the machine-like wave, or the necessary machine-like physical condition one needs for the paddle out, this right-hand break is probably one of the best in the area. It favors a south and southeast swell with a southwest wind. Its best waves for intermediates are in the 3 to 7 ft range, and even on smaller days, the break holds up for some fun little nuggets.

Los Lobos Fuerteventura, Canary Islands

Intermediate surfers, right point break, surf, Los Lobos

Los Lobos is a fast righthand break known as the longest wave in the Canary Islands. It is best in autumn or winter and is only accessible by boat or ferry from mainland Fuerteventura. Los Lobos is good on any tide and can handle almost any swell direction, but favors a north to northwest swell and east to southeast wind. The wave can be fairly advanced when it gets big, so we recommend paddling out in swells up to the 7 ft range for intermediate surfers.
