Each Lesson is broken down in a way that puts you in control. After a quick introduction, you get to choose what to focus on and how you want it explained. Are you here to perfect your frontside bottom turn, or is it your backside that needs work? Only have time for a Quick Dip summary or want to Deep Dive into each step of the technique? It’s your choice.
Eager to get out there and only want a quick refresher? Then the Quick Dip is perfect to remind you of everything the technique involves.
Waiting for the waves and want to hear a full explanation instead? In Deep Dive I’ve broken the technique down into its 5 core steps. You can watch them all together or choose which step you want to watch.
If you can nail steps 1 and 2 but bail at 3, that’s the step you need to focus on. Take the core step with you by writing it onto a strip of masking tape and slapping it on the nose of your board. With the reminder right at your feet, practice until you’ve mastered it, then move onto the next step. You’ll be nailing the whole maneuver in no time!
I’ve even written out each core step in the Success Points section for you to digest at your own speed, accessible from the home page or at the end of each Lesson.

Between surf sessions, chill out with reels of me acing each technique. Sit back and watch how I stand on the board, read a wave to generate speed, and turn at just the right moment to perfectly position myself on the face. Imagine yourself tackling the same waves, focusing on the flow and timing. Then take what you’ve learned out onto the water and embody your visualizations.
Practice your surfing on a surf skate! Most surfers spend more time on land than they do out in the water, maybe only hitting the waves once a month. It’s so important to keep working on your skills and that’s why I’ve put these surf skate routines together, to give you the opportunity to keep improving your skills when you don’t have access to the water.
For each technique, I’ll show you how to set up your cones or markers and the route through them to perfect your skills. Listen to me explain everything you need to do, where to distribute your weight, when to bend your knees, and the differences between frontside and backside. Then get on your board and practice, practice, practice!
