Behind the Brand
In 2007, San Clemente resident George Arzente took a year off from his job as a real estate developer to dive deep into surfing. During this time, he noticed an opening in the market for high-performance soft-top foam surfboards. George teamed up with long-time bodyboard shaper Tom Moray, and together they created their first foam boards, The One and The Super One, under the brand name Y Surfboards.
These first soft-top board iterations led to the creation of the Catch Surf Beater. The intention behind this board, spoken by George himself, was " a cool board that worked no matter what the conditions and was more about carefree summertime beach days than ripping." With its versatility to be a twin fin, finless, or skimmed, it soon became one of the best-selling boards of all time.
